Living or Working Overseas?

Travelling abroad or living abroad can cause headaches when trying to arrange suitable insurance cover, many of the UK’s largest insurers will not insure their customers if they are abroad for long periods. Protecting your vehicle while living in a foreign country is important, understanding all the terms and conditions prior to travelling will prepare you should the worst happen.

When taking out your insurance policy it is important to check the country in which you are residing, loss/damage policies do not include third party liability insurance, as this needs to be arranged locally to comply with the laws and regulations of the country where the vehicle is being used.

For short visits to the EU, check with your UK insurer as you can probably arrange additional third party liability insurance cover or this can also be arranged via us if you are abroad for longer periods.

For advice on travelling to each country ensure that you comply with any special local legal requirements by visiting the Foreign Office for advice before you travel.
